List of active predator journals (run!)

May 13, 2014

As explained in my previous post, I’ve had enough of all these fake journals just spamming the science community. This list aims at blowing the whistle on them. It will be regularly updated (but it is far from exhaustive; see comment below the post).

Entries of this list correspond to

– irrelevant invitations I received (when they pretend they know me and my work but they clearly don’t)

– invitation based on commercial argument, not based on science (when they advertise short publication process, “easy” peer review, cheap publication costs, etc.)

– other journals recommended by the blog’s readers for this list (after verification)

– the journals exposed by Tom Spears in his recent enlightening experiment

  1. Well, I was enthusiastic about this list. But apparently, someone has done the job in a much more professional/comprehensive way.

    Please check: http://scholarlyoa.com/2012/12/06/bealls-list-of-predatory-publishers-2013/
Thank you Victor Baldovino (@vigabalme) for altering me.

There, you can find two lists: predatory publishers and predatory journals. Impressively long…

Let’s say “my” list published up there will thus be restricted to the journals for which I have personally witnessed some “predatory” behavior.

  2. Found on the website of one of these publishers:

Our reviewers shall be just checking out the standard of work being sent to them hence it is the sole responsibility of the author to provide genuine research otherwise only the author will bear the blame of handing over plagiarized work.

Fair enough! We know quality is not their business
