Hippolyte Meersseman wins the first prize for the best oral communication at the “Club Biocatalyse en Synthèse Organique” symposium!
The 29th edition of the “Colloque du CBSO” took place on June 30 and July 1st 2022, online. This event allowed gathering the French (French-speaking) community of biocatalysis, biotechnology and biological synthesis. In her invited lecture, Caroline E. Paul discussed the power of artificial co-factor approaches to exploit enzymes such as dehydrogenases in organic synthesis. The other invited lecture was given by Damien Debecker, on the topic “When heterogeneous catalysis and biocatalysis team up”.
The event included round tables to discuss the future of biocatalysis and the professional perspectives for doctoral students. Researchers (in particular PhD students) were also invited to present their results. Here, the jury has awarded the prize for the best oral presentation to Hippolyte Meersseman! Congratulations !!!
Hippolyte discussed the first results gathered during his ongoing PhD, and focused on the immobilisation of transaminase enzymes onto membranes. This work is carried out in the framework of an ARC project at UCLouvain, under the co-supervision of Profs. Tom Leyssens, Patricia Luis and Damien Debecker.
The award will help financing the participation of Hippolyte to the next big event: the 10th International Congress on Biocatalysis, Hambourg (August 28 -September 1, 2022), where he will also have the chance to present his work to the scientific community.
